The Colón Experience - Newport Beach

I just finished a workshop with Mike Colón. Nine photographers from around the country and me spent 4 days in Newport Beach, CA learning and having a great time. What a great group of people!
I'll be posting some images from our field trips to the beach and Hollywood.

FUN SHOTS FIRST

Chucky

After many years of service, Chucky is about to lose some vital body parts so we decided to shoot some pictures before he goes to spend the rest of his unnatural life on a shelf.

Caricature

Josh did this caricature of me on a post-it months ago. I've had it on the side of the monitor but it has no more glue... after it fell a million times I decided to scan it for posterity.

I guess he did a good job...

Portrait

I was supposed to shoot products at this saddle store... and I did, until the owner's daughter showed up... much more fun.

Cool Karts @ Pole Position Raceway

I got an assignment to shoot this indoor kart racing business in Corona, CA. After getting lost inside a huge industrial complex I finally found the place and didn't expect much for what I could see from the outside.
Once inside my perception changed right away. It wasn't until after that I found out that Corona is consider to be the world’s epicenter of off-road motorcycle racing with lots of aftermarket companies, performance shops, factory test tracks, and key race-related companies. In fact, half of the top AMA Supercross and Motocross racers call this area home during the winter testing time.

There are over 50 electric karts and believe me these are not the karts you remember driving as a kid. The electronic scoring is a very cool feature for those who are serious about competition since it allows you to measure your skills against everyone who has ever driven at Pole Position Raceway.
The owners and the staff treated me like a king and they even stopped a race to let me position in the middle of the track!
